“ Update: After posting this review, I spoke directly with the General Manager, Jim. He was very appreciative of me bringing this situation to his attention and agreed that no bank would require the purchase of a warranty to maintain a quoted interest rate. He took the concern seriously and assured me it would be addressed internally. My intent was simply to make others aware in case they experienced something similar. I appreciate Jim taking the time to listen, acknowledging the issue, and responding professionally. I do feel that people should be aware this was an issue, so it dont happen to them! Original:The Volkswagen sales team was great. The sales representative and manager worked very hard to ensure we got the car we wanted. Now, let’s talk about the finance department. My fiancé initially spoke with them over the phone and was told the interest rate would be 7.49%. When we arrived to finalize the paperwork, the finance representative, Freddy, told us that in order to keep that interest rate, we had to add a $4,000 warranty—otherwise, the rate would increase to 15%. Needless to say, after receiving multiple documents from the bank, I began questioning this information. When I contacted the bank directly, they told me they do not offer higher interest rates for declining a warranty and that this is not something they do at all. I called the dealership back and was told that I had “misunderstood.” However, both my fiancé and I were present, heard the same information, and questioned it at the time. We were even told that another customer declined the warranty because they thought it was a hoax and ended up with a higher interest rate. This experience with the finance department was misleading and extremely disappointing, especially after such a positive sales experience. ”
